FREDERICK, Md. Anchor Bar, home of the original Buffalo chicken wing since 1964, is expanding its world-famous franchise with its 16th restaurant opening here in Frederick at 5605 Spectrum Drive. Anchor Bar serves more than 1 million lbs. of chicken every year across its locations, with Americans consuming more chicken on average than anywhere else in the world – the number one protein consumed in the United States.
Here in Frederick, Anchor Bar’s newest franchisees were welcomed to the family with a special ribbon cutting ceremony including a citation presentations from US Senator Van Hollan and State Senator Young’s offices as well as speeches from Anchor Bar’s Franchise and Development Company CEO, Mark Dempsey and franchise owner Michael McCarthy.
With 40 large flat screens, the nearly 6,000 sq. ft. space has indoor and patio seating for more than 250 guest and walls filled with memorabilia, to replicate the original restaurant’s famous flair. All of Anchor Bar’s classic fare, including the original signature wings and sauces, boneless wings and fingers, will be served by its staff of 130 full and part-time employees.
